Description
This is a fine and very solid sterling silver drinks tray made by C S Harris and hallmarked in London 1921.
It is in very good condition with only the usual minor surface marks through usage. It sits firmly and has sturdy handles. Whilst the tray was hallmarked in 1921 it was given as a gift to Sir James Greenwood a public benefactor and great supporter of Guys Hospital, London. In 1962 he achieved his Knighthood and it is a reasonable assumption that this tray was presented to him by his friends in celebration. There are 20 engraved signatures mainly of Members of Parliament but also including a Cabinet Minister and three baronets (amongst the Lord Bill Deedes the great friend of Dennis Thatcher the husband of the former Prime Minister)
A solid silver tray of very good quality (NB shadows appearing in the photographs are merely reflections).
