Exquisite Original Victorian Hand Carved Oak Stool, Dated 1894 ​Charming example of late Victorian craftsmanship. This solid oak stool is not only a functional piece of furniture but a work of art, featuring deep, hand-carved relief work and a rare, carved date of 1894 prominently displayed on the top. Its also worth pointing out, there's a carved makers mark to the underside of the seat. A skill of Victorian woodcarving. It features a central date plaque (1894) surrounded by four pheasant like carving and foliage, trefoil motifs. The edges are finished with a crisp, notched lunette border, giving it a framed, architectural appearance. ​ The frieze below the seat is uniquely decorated with relief carved aquatic motifs (stylized fish or dolphins) set against a hand punched textured background a hallmark of quality period carving. The frame ​is upported by four thick baluster turned legs and joined by a low-level perimeter stretcher, ensuring the piece is as structurally sound as it is beautiful. The oak has aged beautifully, boasting a deep, rich chocolate hue and a warm luster that only comes with over 130 years of history. ​Solid Construction with sturdy joints. Small losses to the border of the seat as shown on the last photos and other wise in good condition showing light wear and tear. Seat is 31cm by 31cm, approx: 35cm in height
