Description
This is a charming antique Japanese book stand or 'pulpit' dating to the 18th Century. Made of fairly lightweight wood the stand has a sloping top set over a single drawer. The wood has a black lacquered finish with gilding. To the back is a hand written prayer or poem and a painting of a wise man riding a Koi carp.
