This is a very attractive 19th century Japanese Satsuma vase beautifully hand decorated in polychrome enamels in a most unusual spiral design. The shoulders of the ovoid body are hand painted with a wide panel of aqua green with gilded panels of red oxide and cobalt blue in geometric motifs. The piece is signed to the base with a two character mark.
The vase measures 13 cms high by 8.5 cms in diameter.
