Description
Antique Juvenia Pocket Watch, 18K Gold, Minute Repeater. Switzerland, c.1910 This antique Juvenia pocket watch in 18K gold, manufactured in Switzerland around 1910, is a piece that combines technical excellence with a captivating aesthetic. Its case displays a beautiful uniform guilloché, delicate and deep, which reflects the light with a subtle and elegant shimmer. In the center of the front side there is a monogram, crafted with the finesse typical of the jewellery of the period, adding personality. When opening the front cover, a white enamel dial of classic design appears, with black Arabic numerals and blued hands that stand out harmoniously. The dust cover, also made in 18K gold, stands out for its polished finish and for the elegant engraved decoration displayed on its interior surface. On it can be clearly read the inscription “Répétition à Minutes” together with the heraldic emblem flanked by two lions, a distinctive motif that Juvenia used to highlight the quality of its pieces with high complication. Below the crest appears the name of the house and the mentions “Balancier Compensateur” and “Précision Chronométrique”, indicative of the technical attention that the manufacture devoted to the stability of the regulating organ and to the general precision of the watch. The cover opens and closes firmly, showing a solid and well preserved hinge, and effectively protects the internal movement, contributing to the excellent mechanical condition that the piece maintains today. In the interior cover the 18K - 0.750 gold hallmarks, the serial number and the Swiss marks are preserved, all well stamped. The general condition of the piece is very good, only a small hairline can be seen in the center of the dial, visible in the photographs but barely perceptible in hand, without affecting its use or its elegance. The functioning of the watch is excellent, it keeps time accurately and the minute repeater acts with clarity and regularity. The movement appears clean, complete and in a very solid working state. The bridges show a uniform finish, with jewels that provide stability to the gear train and demonstrate the quality of the movement. The gears turn smoothly and the calibre maintains precise running, while the minute repeater responds with clarity, confirming the good preservation of the mechanism. Overall, the movement reflects the technical level of Juvenia at the beginning of the twentieth century, a reliable construction, carefully made and designed to endure. This 18K Juvenia is a magnificent opportunity to acquire a high complication pocket watch in exceptional condition. Its rarity, its timeless beauty and its impeccable functioning make it a memorable gift for someone special or a triumph within any collection. Few pieces combine elegance, technique and Swiss tradition so well. If you are looking for a piece that moves emotionally, that tells a story and that also demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship, this is the watch that will make your choice successful and unforgettable. Measurements: 51 mm. Weight: 87.6 g. History of Juvenia The house Juvenia was founded in 1860 in Saint Imier, Switzerland, by the watchmaker Jacques Didisheim, beginning its activity under the name Didisheim Frères before adopting the brand Juvenia some years later. From its beginnings it stood out for its ability to combine watchmaking tradition with an innovative spirit that quickly led it to be recognized among the most creative Swiss workshops of the nineteenth century. Juvenia was one of the first manufactures to design and produce internally the majority of its components, something uncommon at a time in which many workshops depended largely on external suppliers. This allowed it to control the quality of its movements and to develop its own mechanical solutions, refined and reliable. At the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth, the firm gained international prestige thanks to its high complication watches, among them chronographs, calendars and especially models with repeater, one of the most complex specialties of watchmaking art. The brand also distinguished itself by its aesthetic approach, incorporating richly engraved cases, enamel dials of great purity and designs that combined classical elegance with technical innovations. During the first decades of the twentieth century, Juvenia consolidated its reputation with models that stood out for their precision and their beauty, attracting a public that sought refined pieces of exceptional quality. Over the years, Juvenia continued evolving, adapting to the stylistic changes of the twentieth century and launching avant garde designs, some of which have become icons of horology. Its legacy rests on the constancy of its quality, on its ability to combine art and technique and on the loyalty of collectors who appreciate the careful manufacture of its oldest watches. Today, Juvenia pocket watches, especially those with complications such as the minute repeater, are highly valued by collectors and lovers of watchmaking for their elegance, their rarity and their impeccable Swiss engineering.
