This is an antique ladies work table. An English, burr walnut ladies sewing table, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850. Eye-catching form and finish, with great colour displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order. Burr walnut stocks present fine grain interest. Deep caramel hues throughout, beneath a quality wax polish finish. Striking figuring to the lid with boxwood inlaid detail. Suite of compartments dressed with a quality paper interior. Four smaller lidded compartments sit around the central lid. Lid removes to reveal the deep tapering under box, ideal for fabric. Shaped edges to each apron adds a distinctive appearance, front fascia with inset lock — key absent. Stout turned supports with foliate covers to the knee. Standing upon a quartet of cabriole legs with baluster turned stretcher rail. Riding smoothly upon a set of four brass castors.
