This is a handsome old antique country chair that dates to the mid to late 1800s. The chair is very low and would have been used as a fireside chair for a pipe smoker, it has an evocative and aged look that wouldn't be out of place in an old tavern. The chair has a wide caned seat, shaped armrests, and a slanted spindle back. The finish is very aged, it is creaky and full of character. . MEASUREMENTS height-seat 32cms, armrests 50cms, top of backrest 100.5cms width-54.5cms to outer arms seat depth-44cms overall depth-57cms CONDITION The chair is in solid structural condition but is very rustic. There are a lot of old wood wormholes to the legs and underside which have been treated and filled. The chair creaks a bit.
