Penderyn Antiques are a family run business residing in an old Welsh chapel in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We source and restore a wide range of furniture, antiques, interiors and collectables. We have no specific style that we adhere to, (if we like it, we’ll buy it!) but we do have a keen interest in early Welsh country furniture and unusual decorative items. At Penderyn Antiques, we express an indebtedness to those nameless joiners who worked with wood so long ago before plastics and the age of automation. For in building furniture with integrity; so that it will last hundreds of years, they have been our mentors. Their work remains a testament to their commitment to their craft and excellence. Wood is the most used of all our natural resources. We have a duty to recycle, reuse, adapt and preserve it. We must use wood to create furniture that has longevity and combat the ‘throwaway’ society…even though it does grow on trees..”

Description

This is a stunning Victorian antique mahogany wellington chest. The antique wellington chest has seven fitted drawers, each with two wooden knobs. There is a hinged panel to the right hand side of the drawers, this is usually used to lock all the drawers in when closed, but unfortunately this specific piece doesn’t come with a working key. The antique wellington chest of drawers is raised on a plinth base. A rather pleasing example. Item Ref; M-4166

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and dents to the drawer fronts, surface top and sides (pictured). There are also dents and scratches to the base, but these flaws don’t affect the overall integrity of the product. The antique wellington chest remains structurally solid and sound, with the drawers running well. Overall, a neat example of its kind. Our carpenter inspects, repairs, and restores our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is ready for your home!
