Description
An antique Victorian novelty cigar/cheroot cutter, circa 1880, formed as a Champagne bottle. The bottle body is made of carved horn. The bottle top and thumbpiece label are silver-plated, and the cutting blade is carbon steel. The twist-action cutter is spring-loaded and operates by rotating the bottle top clockwise to raise the blade. To close, press the thumbpiece label back into place and turn the bottle top anti-clockwise. The top is stamped with the Registered Design (Rd) lozenge and number 400089, indicating the design was registered on 29 June 1883.
In good antique condition overall, with the exception that the thumbpiece does not close fully flush. The cutter remains in working order.
