Standing on finely shaped tripod bases with scrolling cabriole legs terminating in attractive scroll feet these impressive stands display outstanding craftsmanship and decorative appeal. The hexagonal tops are beautifully veneered in richly figured walnut and kingwood with intricate geometric banding and raised gallery borders. Supported by tapering faceted columns and decorative moulded capitals they possess a refined architectural quality typical of high quality Dutch furniture from the early nineteenth century. Originally designed to display candlesticks decorative objects busts or porcelain these versatile torchères make excellent statement pieces in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Their elegant proportions allow them to work particularly well flanking a fireplace doorway cabinet or console.
