Antique Prosthetic Leg, Peg Leg, Medical Collectable

A fantastic piece of medical history! A unique and interesting Victorian era prosthetic leg, I'm sure it's not just me that looks at this and thinks; Pirate! This is a great piece for the medical enthusiast for research purposes or a cool gift, it also makes a fabulous decor piece and this is a real conversation starter! Made from stuffed and hardened leather with a composite interior where the thigh sits in, it has a somewhat naively carved wooden 'peg' leg, painted black with a rubber stopper base just below the brass neck, this would have been added later and it probably just had wood for the base. It has leather straps to secure around the legs with buckle straps, these show some wear and tear as does the whole piece but oh my think of the stories it could tell and the aged worn look adds to its mysterious air.
