I hope to show case a small selection of Celtic jewellery, silver and bijouterie.
Mainly Scottish , Irish, Welsh, Brittany, Scandinavia and the Celtic people worldwide, to include what is generally considered to be Celtic design from non Celtic countries.
This is a mid 19th Century Scottish sterling silver and agate brooch, the agates are cut as fan or oval shapes and exhibiting orange, green and deep red colours, jasper, bloodstone. Large brooch, 6 cm across, can be worn as either a plaid brooch, kilt brooch (it's heavy enough), a Scottish brooch or as just a beautiful and obvious item of stately jewellery. Not hallmarked or stamped, which is close to normal for Scottish jewellery of this period, tests fine a sterling silver.
It has an original safety chain loop and a modern silver safety chain, is not and has not been engraved to the reverse and that is free for personal engraving.
All in all a quite striking item of jewellery and all is good.
