Unusual early 20th Century small wooden shop display cabinet featuring a charming and practical design. The piece has a sloping glazed front door, in closing display compartment backed with original velvet fabric. Front of the cabinet was originally used to showcase small goods such as haberdashery items, stationery, or confectionery, allowing customers to view the contents while keeping them protected. The back of the cabinet is fitted with six neatly arranged drawers, each with a small turned wooden knob, providing storage for stock or refills of the items on display. Crafted from a warm toned hardwood, likely mahogany. The cabinet retains its original worn patina, showing attractive age related wear that enhances its authentic character. This small, versatile counter top display would have been used in a general store or apothecary setting, combining elegant craftsmanship with functional design.
