Antique Silver Pocket or Desk Barometer C1909

A good aneroid pocket or desk barometer in silver case by Grey & Co, Birmingham, c1909. Pocket barometer having 2" transfer printed enamel dial, the barometric scale calibrated in inches with a range from 26" – 31" divided to 1/10", standard meteorological terms, blued steel pointer, bezel set index under bevelled convex glass. Standard frosted gilt movement consisting of 1½" single capsule tensioned on a C spring. Blued screws. The whole contained within a drum form silver case, push fit lid with gilt interior and silver hallmarks for Grey & Co and 1909, monogram 'S' to outside. Verso of case with hallmarks for Grey & Co, Birmingham and 1909. Condition: Fully serviced, conserved and calibrated under laboratory conditions, see performance chart from dynamic test. The movement working well across the range. The dial very good with absence of chips or cracks. The silver case essentially crisp, very minor dent to lid, minor marks and abrasions. Comments: A very attractive instrument in very much above average condition. An ideal gift, engraved with initial “S” (though could also be used for "B.")
