From 2013, Larkin & Gallow have been giving new life to elegant, beautiful and 'well loved' antiques, saving items of British hallmarked silver from being scrapped through sensitive restoration, renewal and regeneration.
Saunders and Shepherd were founded in London in 1869 by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders Sr. and James Francis Hollings Shepherd, where they set-up a workshop at Bartlett’s Buildings in Holborn Circus. Less than fifty years on, the manufacturing of stylish items like this elegant oval trinket box was happening in a ‘factory’ in Birmingham and the business continued to develop a reputation for quality and innovative products that kept abreast of rapidly changing fashions.
This trinket box engraved 'R' exemplifies the way Saunders and Shepherd not only followed fashion but set about reinventing some of the more traditional styles.
Following their lead, we have re-modelled what was a very tired interior and given it a makeover in ‘sea tones’ of pale green silk and velvet, along with a silvered rope embellishment to the perimeter of the base.
