Antique Silver Victorian Double Compartment Snuff Vesta Box Nathaniel Mills 1848

An early Victorian sterling silver double compartment snuff / vesta case by Nathaniel Mills Birmingham 1848. Beautifully engine turned on both sides with a crisscross design, the hinged cover opens to reveal 2 compartments, one small for snuff and the other with 2 separate compartments for matches. The central cartouche contains an engraved crest with a crown & arrows. In very good antique condition overall, the hallmarks are good. The divider in the larger half has been pushed in over time so it is visible to the base (see photos). A top quality piece by one of the best makers. Usual signs of wear all commensurate of age and use.
