Antique Small Chesterfield Sofa

This is a late Victorian or early Edwardian Chesterfield sofa c1900 of unusually small proportions, with faded ‘champagne’ gold velvet upholstery. This lovely little sofa is only 135cm wide, so is ideal for a small room, or maybe in a bay window. This sofa is in good solid condition structurally and is very nicely proportioned. The upholstery is by no means recent - it may be the original upholstery, i’m not sure - and is a little faded/discoloured throughout. It has cording covering the pleats on the arms and back and running into the uppermost button, which is a lovely detail. Overall I would say the condition of the upholstery is ‘fair’. It has no tears or rips, but there are various pulled threads, especially on the armrests and on the back corners, and a few small marks here and there. The seat while fully useable and quite comfy has a fair amount of give and is a little uneven. I think the sofa is lovely as it is, and has a great worn in look, but if you would rather have it reupholstered then we can arrange this if desired - please get in touch to discuss this. One of the back legs has an old repair to it. All the castors appear to be original. This is an antique item and as such may have signs of wear in accordance with its age. Anything that we think is of note will have been mentioned above, but please study the photos carefully to satisfy yourself as to its condition as it is not possible to list every little mark or flaw.
