Description
This is an antique spirits table. An English, burr maple and walnut decanter & glasses stand or teapoy, dating to the William IV period, circa 1835. An exceptional drawing room drinks stand of superb craftsmanship, and rich visual appeal.
Presents a desirable aged patina and in very good order. Crafted in burr maple and walnut with exceptional figuring. Gorgeous stocks present fine grain interest and warm caramel hues. Dashing circular top with a refined tapered drum form.
Hinged lid opens to a velvet lined interior in rich plum. Tasteful brocade trim accentuates the interior circumference. Pleasingly deep interior, ideal for storing tumblers or glasses. Flat top well suited for presenting a decanter of favourite spirits.
Dressed with an inset brass-lined lock — in working order, key present. Prominent lobed detail adorns the apron circumference. Striking twist form support, catching the light beautifully. Standing upon a trio of cabriole legs with bold slipper feet. Each leg finished with a central drop pendant finial.
This is a superb William IV spirits table, offering elegant proportion, striking materials and delightful period detail. A distinguished addition to the drawing room or entertaining space, presenting a dashing appearance sure to enhance any room. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
