Antique Sterling Silver Pin Cushion

This is a very pretty heart shaped Antique Sterling Silver Pin Cushion. These were very popular in the 1880s to the early 1920s, before ones were made using cheaper materials. It comes in a gift bag and would be a great present for someone who enjoys sewing. It has Sterling Silver sides and stands on three silver legs. There’s a material top for putting pins in and a wooden base. The maker’s mark is worn. It was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1920. The hallmarks are on the side of the pincushion. The silver is shiny with a bit of tarnish and a few small dints. The material top is worn and quite firm but still holds pins. The pincushion isn’t firmly fixed into the silver frame but this doesn’t affect its use. It’s a smaller size pin cushion, perfect for individual sewing or haberdashery. Its total weight is 26.3g, and it measures 5cm by 4.5cm (2 inches by nearly 1 7/8 inches). The height is 3.6cm approximately (nearly 1 1/2 inches).
