Description
A wonderfully original Victorian jeweller’s stool, the thick single-piece rough-sawn elm slab seat with exposed wedged through-tenons, raised on three hand-faceted splayed ash legs.
Bearing the hand-carved artisan mark 'PALLETT' to the seat, the piece carries strong provenance directly from the 19th-century workshops of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. Its heavy surface scarring, historic marking and deep patination lend it immense physical character, turning a simple tripod utility into a compelling survival of British industrial heritage.
Very good antique condition, displaying a deep authentic workshop patina, honest surface marks and natural timber shrinkage. Structurally solid, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1860.
