A pretty Victorian sterling silver cuff bangle. The front is engraved all over with ivy leaves and has applied beading, the back is smooth plain polished. It closes with a push catch type fastener. This piece is stacked full of sentiment with the buckle and ivy engraving, ivy amongst other things signifying the everlasting or evergreen. The buckle was widely adopted by the Victorians for use in jewellery amongst other things it popularly symbolised holding a loved one close, locking in their love. It is an oval shaped bangle. It is unmarked, tests as sterling silver, Victorian era, c1880s. Approx measurements: 7.5 outer circumference 0.5" width 2.15" inner width 1.90" inner length It weighs approx 13.85 grams. Very good used condition overall, light surface wear commensurate with age, the applied belt area has a crack in the silver (not in the bangle itself) it is very hard to notice but is there.
