Description
This very attractive antique sterling silver goblet was made by John Samuel Hunt and hallmarked in London 1862. It is in very good condition and the interior is gilded. Standing firmly on a raised stem from a circular base the goblet has overall chequered pattern with each square divided by acanthus leaves. Two of the squares are cartouches, one vacant the other intialled. The narrow rim of the base holds an inscription. Hallmarks are clearly struck. This is a goblet of quality. John Samuel Hunt was a nephew of Paul Storr and became a partner of Storr & Mortimer which after Storr's retirement became Mortimer & Hunt and then Hunt & Roskell. The business retained its Royal appointment. (NB any shadows in the photographs are merely reflections) Weight 168 gms (5.875 ozs) Height 12 cms (4.75 ins) FREE INSURED POSTAGE WORLDWIDE
