Description
An exceptionally fine, antique, early Victorian era sterling silver letter opener.
This particular example is beautifully decorated with all over engraving of flora, a stylised hilt and engraved blade.
The greatest attention to detail can be found throughout the piece and it is a very fine example indeed.
Often letter opener blades are of a more plain appearance however the theme found on the hilt of this piece is carried on all the way down the blade.
The handle is delicately shaped and both are made from sterling silver.
The letter opener is fully hallmarked on both the handle and the blade for Birmingham 1853, maker George Unite, the bust of a young queen Victoria also present.
