Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Fruit Knife

Here we have a very pretty Sterling Silver Fruit Knife from the mid 1800s. It would be perfect for slicing apples, pears or other fruits. It comes in a gift bag and would be a great present for a Birthday or Anniversary. It was made by Alfred Taylor and it was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1859. The maker’s mark and hallmarks are on one side of the Sterling Silver blade. The fruit knife features an elegant Mother of Pearl handle, finely crafted with a slim, graceful profile typical of the period. On one side it has a blank rectangular cartouche. The silver blade folds back into the handle. It’s shiny and a bit wavy in places which can be seen in one of the photos. The Mother of Pearl is smooth with an inclusion on one side and a very tiny chip on the other side. It’s a refined and collectible piece, prized for its craftsmanship and timeless Victorian charm and would be a fabulous gift. It measures 10.2cm in length when fully open (4 inches). It measures 6.7cm when the blade is folded back into the handle (2 5/8 inches).
