A fine quality late Victorian antique folding fruitknife, by the Sheffield maker John Batt. Features a genuine mother-of-pearl handle with beautiful hand-engraved floral and foliate motifs, and accented with inlaid silver piqué studs. Hallmarked sterling silver blade and brass liners. Supplied in a presentation box, suitable for display or gifting. HALLMARKS: Sheffield, SILVER fineness 925

Excellent condition. The blade operates smoothly, with a firm half-stop at 90° and a firm open position at 180°, with a crisp snap on opening and closing and no blade play. The mother-of-pearl scales show natural blemishes and tonal variation, but no damage.
