A exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver presentation cup and cover; an addition to our Victorian silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver cup and cover has a plain circular campania shaped form to a circular spreading foot. The surface of this silver trophy is embellished with fluted decoration to the lower portion. The upper portion is encompassed with cast and applied fruiting vine decoration, with an applied moulded border to the flared upper rim. This silver cup retains the original push fit cover surmounted with a large and impressive cast finial ornamented with scrolling leaf and organic decoration, securing to the interior with a screw fitment. The surface of the cover is embellished with further fluted decoration, with impressive cast leaf designs to the rim. The knop pedestal is encircled with fluted decoration with further chased foliate decoration to the rim. This exceptional Victorian silver cup is fitted to a painted ebonised wood plinth, encircled with a vacant silver inscription band; the band may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired. The interior of the cup and cover bear the original gilding.
