Art Deco 2 Drawer Glazed Oak Cabinet by Gomme c.1930

A fabulous looking Art Deco solid English oak cabinet featuring a rarely seen combination of glazed bookcase topped with two drawers. Very much Deco in look and style from maker Gomme. We have two oak framed doors flanked by highly decorative 30s inspired flower patterns which spread to the fine bulbous feet and to the front. The top with its shaped back plinth is well shaped and we have a good tone and grain to the oak. Condition is good - we have a working lock and key for the glazed section with the most delightful escutcheon in the form of an angel with wings. Both drawers have the original period little cast handles which run smoothly and are neat with light historic marks to the inside. We have a replacement back but not a problem unless you want to show off the back along with 2 solid oak shelves which are adjustable if required! The oak framed cabinet doors are closing well with no repairs or breaks to the original glass. The piece has been carefully repolished in our workshop so expect light day to day marks. We have ensured it's ready to place and enjoy. Reassuringly weighty too. A delightful piece of 1930s Art Deco furniture by Gomme.
