Description
Art Deco 1920s ceramic powder bowl, signed to the base Aladin France Made in France and also impressed with the artist's name A. Bequerel for Andre' Vincent Bequerel. This figural powder pot features a young woman dressed in vibrantly coloured floral dress clutching a small posy of pink flowers. Her white hair is upswept and has grey comb lines at the forehead and temples. She has fine and delicate detailing to the face which is beautifully and skilfully done. This is a rare design of high quality that we have come to expect from French ceramics. A great powder box with multiple applications aside from its original intent. Condition is very good, colours are bright, there is no crazing to the glaze but there is a small chip to the inside rim of the base, as shown. There are no other flaws or restoration. e. She's free from damage but shows original faults on some of the hand painted paintwork. No restorations.
