Art Deco Celluloid Vanity Purse: Flapper Powder Compact with Silk Cord, 1920s

On offer is this rare art deco vanity purse which dates circa 1920. The body of the case measures 10 cm by 7 cm. The cream silk carry cord measures 23 cm in length and the tassel is 12 cm in length. This flapper vanity case is made of cream celluloid and the lid and base have carved floral decoration. The case has a push button catch which holds securely and the case opens to reveal a circular framed convex mirror under the lid which is clear and reflective. In the base is a lidded well with lift off lid and small lambswool with silk backing and bone finial. The celluloid body has no chips or cracks and the colour on one side of the case has faded.
