A beautiful English solid sterling silver and glass Art Deco butter dish and spreader. The dish is hallmarked for Birmingham 1936 and the spreader 1937 with the makers marks being Mappin & Webb. It has been superbly made with the cut glass dish being supported by a sterling silver dish. The silver is free from splits repairs and dings. The glass is free from cracks chips and repairs. It is a good usable size with the whole dish measuring approx. 6.75 inches (17cms) across including the handles and 4.75 inches (12cms) excluding them by 1 inch (2.6cms) tall and the spreader measures 4.75 inches (11.7cms) long by 0.75 inch (1.6cms) wide and combined weighs 286 grams with the glass liner and 98 grams without it. A beautiful usable piece.
