Art Deco Figured Walnut Gents Wardrobe
c. 1930s — Handsome Deco Lines & Original Interior Fittings
This striking Art Deco gents wardrobe is crafted in beautifully figured walnut, displaying dramatic book-matched veneers across the double doors and lower drawer. The rich grain patterns and warm tones give the piece a strong decorative presence, complemented by the soft curves and stepped edges typical of 1930s design.
The exterior is in good vintage condition with general marks consistent with age, and a historic repair to the front left foot, which remains solid and stable. There is a small chip to the veneer as shown in the photographs . The key operates both doors smoothly, and all original decorative handles remain in place and well-matched, adding to its period charm.
A full-width drawer sits below, offering additional storage. A small chip to the bottom right corner of the drawer front is noted but does not affect use.
Inside, the wardrobe retains its original well-designed fittings:
Top shelf enclosed with sliding glass doors—perfect for folded garments or accessory storage.
Right interior fitted with two small shelves, each retaining its original maker’s tag.
Left interior fitted with a slide-out hanging rail, ideal for shirts, trousers, or shorter items.
Right door equipped with an original tie bar, a very typical and useful period feature.
The wardrobe bears its original manufacturer’s label: “Durable Suites Ltd”, known for quality mid-century British furniture.
