This is a mid-20th century display barograph signed G. H. Zeal of London with serial number H 3036. As a testament to their quality products, the company is still trading today and specialise in all types of thermometers for commercial use - medical, laboratory, industrial, as well as meteorological. This instrument bears all the hallmarks of being manufactured by Short & Mason with whom they had a long-standing trading relationship. This barograph has bevelled glass to the lift-off lid, a two-compartment chart drawer to the base and has its original glass ink bottle and dipper. The mid-oak case has been carefully stripped and re-polished to a high standard. The weekly clock and the lacquered brass barograph movement are both in good working condition.
A quantity of weekly charts together with a fresh bottle of recording ink are included and also a reprinted period pamphlet by Negretti & Zambra Ltd describing operating instructions and how to interpret typical chart recordings.
