Black Painted Music Chest, Stationery Cabinet

This is a useful antique mahogany music chest which dates to the Edwardian era. Originally designed for storing sheet music it could also be used for storing paperwork and stationery in an office or study. The chest is modestly sized and is set on block legs finished with castors and surrounding a small undertier. The front is fitted with five 'Stones Patented' fall front drawers which are finished with decorative drop handles. I have hand painted this piece in my own mix of water based black paint. The paintwork has been lightly distressed and then waxed for protection. The finish is solid colour and is fairly matt.
