Stunning boxed pair of solid silver butter dishes and knives. Beautiful original fitted box. The silver is hallmarked for the Sheffield assay office with the date letter on the two dishes and one knife for 1895 although the other knife is marked for 1895. Not unusual to find when makers put sets together. The retailer, the name is stamped into the lid of the box was R Sutton. Lovely shell design, great to see shell feet which is unusual as they're normally balls. These are the original Victorian design that all the modern copies are made from. The combined silver weight is 223.3 grams. Happy to answer questions.
Each shell measures 7/8 inch 2.5 cm tall, 4 3/4 inches 12 cm long and 4 inches 10 cm wide. The knives are 5 1/4 inches 13.3 cm long. The combined silver weight is 223.3 grams.
