Description
A good example of a burr walnut knee hole desk in the early Georgian style. Dating to the late 19th century and of excellent construction in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers onto a solid oak carcas. Of gentle serpentine form with with the top and drawer fronts being cross-banded. There is an arrangement of one long central drawer flanked by two sets of 4 , shorter, graduated drawers. All fitted with their original charming brass handles. To the knee hole there is a bow-fronted cupboard (lockable with key supplied) which opens to reveal a shelved interior. Above this is a "secret drawer". The whole desk stands on elegant shaped bracket feet. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent condition. It has a wonderful colour and patina and is ready to go straight into the home.
