This is an exquisite mid-Victorian silver cased serving set in pristine condition. It is dated London 1864 and was designed by the renowned Elkington firm. The tactile mother of pearl handles with a beautiful blade and fork, each engraved with ivy garlands. In the Victorian era, this type of servers were in fact melon servers, a luxury fruit in the Victorian era. Today , this set would be ideal to carve and serve cold meats. Fitted in its original Morocco leather presentation case. The interior lined with rich red satin and velvet, impressed Elkington in gilt letters. Would make a superb carving or serving set on a Christmas table and a beautiful wedding gift.
