Description
Offered for sale is a very attractive , Chinese, blue & white bottle vase. Bulbous in shape it is decorated with symbolic images such as a deer, rocks, clouds and chrysanthemum flowers which represent longevity.
The magistrate type figure in the headdress is being offered a sword by the gentleman with the pointed beard. Swords represent justice in China so I guess the magistrate is actually a judge.
Usually such scenes come from Chinese mythology, but I would not know which this illustrates.
A lovely vase that would suit any setting , whether modern or traditional
