Description
This is a marvellous piece of Chinese enamel cloisonne which dates from the early 20th Century. It is in the form of the mythical bird, the phoenix and it is wonderfully enamelled on heavy solid brass in a rich range of colours. The Chinese phoenix is a symbol of virtue and grace is often paired with the male symbol, the dragon.
The phoenix sits very proudly and has a lift off section to the back, so could be used as an incense burner or just a keepsake box.
