Description
Size: 6 cm tall
Condition: excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration.
This delightful and tactile little jar is neatly potted in buff coloured stoneware, and glazed in a thin green slightly mottled glaze. The glaze is crazed but not pitted and is similar to celadon. The foot has been turned after application of the glaze, and the applied moulded tablet, with a raised inscription, is left unglazed.
On the base is a collector's label - this jar was in the collection of Roger Edmundson, who was an authority on English porcelain.
We bought this piece described as Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), although we have seen similar bodies and glaze belonging to the Liao Dynasty (916-1125).
