Clock Longcase Scottish
Secure Payments By
19th century mahogany and inlaid Longcase clock by John Russell who worked in Falkirk in @850. The hood, with broken swan neck pediment is surmounted by a brass ball and eagle. The trunk door has a fine quality inlaid paterae and the case is supported by bracket feet. The base panel has unfortunately the ubiquitous small vertical crack. The 8 day movement is in full working order. The brass dial has silvered chapter rings. All in all a very good example of the popular light coloured mahogany slim trunk clocks characteristic to the East of Scotland.
Antiques and Things has clarified that the Clock Longcase Scottish (LA343931) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being Victorian
