Colonial Brass & Leather Bound Camphorwood Trunk

Very beautiful British colonial box or trunk made of Camphor Wood with ebonised leatherwork covering and brass bindings. Made in British India circa 1860-1900. Camphorwood trunks and boxes were famously used because the scented odour of the wood protected clothes from moths and other insects, and were a vital accessory for travellers throughout the late Victorian era. It still has its lock, is in good condition - with minimal wear to the leather.
