This is a rare-combined barograph and thermograph by Short and Mason of London, circa 1935. The golden oak hardwood case has deep bevelled glass to the lid, a chart drawer to the base on bun feet below, and has been professionally stripped and re-polished to an excellent standard. The neat arrangement of the pen arms allows them to cross as necessary without interfering with one another as they record. Patented by the makers with No 476569 engraved on the lower crossbar. An inkwell at each end of the movement holds red ink for the temperature and blue ink for the barometric pressure. There are two 25mm diameter holes cut in each of the end glazed panels to allow airflow through to monitor changes in temperature.
A superb instrument for a serious collector.
A quantity of weekly charts which combine 0 - 100' Fahrenheit and 28" to 30' of barometric pressure, together with fresh bottles of recording ink in red and green are included and also a reprinted period pamphlet by Negretti & Zambra Ltd describing operating instructions and how to interpret typical chart recordings.
