Description
Early 18th Century English Oak Three-Panel Coffer, c.1720-1740 A useful early 18th-century English oak coffer of straightforward country form, dating from around 1720 to 1740. It has a broad plank lid above a three-panel front, framed with simple gouge-carved decorative mouldings, and stands on integral stile feet. The coffer has an appealing timeworn appearance, with good dark colour to the front and an honest, functional presence. Its generous proportions make it a practical storage chest for a bedroom, hall or living room, while retaining the character expected of an early English country piece.
