Description
A wonderful Oak bureau from the late 17th Century / early 18th Century, with a strong William & Mary influence. The interior is set with drawers and pigeon holes, whilst hiding a sliding compartment known as a Well. The underframe is sat on 4 nicely turned legs which are supporting an unusual stretchered platform .There is a large round ink stain on the top (see photo) but as with the rest of the bureau , everything is mellowed by the rich patina. The lock is working and with key. Hard to get one this early.
