Description
A very attractive early 18th Century Walnut Bureau of good light honey colour with good shaped stepped interior and central door. Retaining the original handles and escutcheons apart from the bottom drawer where slightly different period handles have been fitted later. The ends would have originally been pine as many were, these have been veneered in Walnut many years ago to match the rest of the piece, the colour now matches very well, the work is of a high standard. The feet are replaced along with quite surprisingly the highly figured central door to the interior. The drawer linings are original throughout, in good condition and made in Oak. The little brass knobs to the interior are also original as are the pine back boards. The fall front has remained remarkably flat over the years and features matched veneers with feather and cross banding to the edge. There are working keys for the fall front and interior door.
