Early 20th C. Industrial Engineers Chest / Cabinet

A superb example of early 20th Century industrial craftsmanship, this portable chest/cabinet is executed in rich, solid wood. with original brass hardware. Originally designed for the precision trade, this chest combines rugged "campaign-style" portability with delicate interior organization. • ​Superior Construction: Built from thick-plank with tight finger-jointed (box joint) corners for maximum durability during transport. • ​Specialized Interior: Features a removable mahogany tray with 49 individual hand finished compartments. Each cell features a "scooped" or radius bottom, specifically designed for the easy retrieval of small components, pins, or gemstones. ▪︎ ​Original Brass Hardware:  Heavy-duty top mounted brass swinging handle for balanced carrying. • ​Dual brass hook-and eye front latches for secure closure. • ​Central inset brass escutcheon (lock plate). Condition: good condition. The wood retains a deep, warm patina with minor authentic "field wear" (light scuffs and character marks) consistent with industrial use. The brass has a soft, aged luster. ☆ Sadly no key and I'm unable to say if the lock is working... ​Approximate Dimensions: 39cm by 33cm by 6.5cm in height.
