A magnificent and excellent quality early 20th Century mahogany long case clock by Maples & co of London, having a fabulous carved mahogany case incorporating various carved shell, leaf and scroll decoration with circular patraes and rams heads, the top of the arched hood having three bold and shaped finials, with carved and pierced panels either side, the whole case is profusely carved all over and the carvings are of top quality. The movement itself is a eight day quarter chiming movement chiming on eight bells or Westminster on four gongs with a dead beat escapement, it has subsidiry dials for a strike / silent, Westminster to eight bells and a second hand dial, it is a substantial English three train movement with steel line brass dial with silvered chapter rings. The movement has had a complete service overhaul and is perfect working order.
