We often hunt the country from our Scottish location, but routinely search from Lancashire and Yorkshire as well as buying trips further afield to supply items online. We also like to take on items that particularly interest us from earlier periods, dependent on our fascination for an object. For sale is a Scottish vernacular creepie / stool in a dark worn stain from the early 20th Century. - The large sized creepie, five boarded stool is in good solid antique condition with a lovely worn stain and thick boarded construction built in a robust manner - It has a central circular finger cut hole to aid lifting / moving - The creepie has a v-shaped decorative arch in each of the two-leg panels, one characteristic of Scottish vernacular 'Creepie' stools - Age-related wear and marks but nothing to effect the solid honest utility of the creepie These Scottish vernacular stools were of great utility in rural homes for seating by the fire, as a candle stand, small table or ad-hoc workbench. They are particularly practical and make a great chair-side companion. Available for a new home for another 100+ years of decorative utility *The painted creepie is not included in this listing and is just for scale and context, but is available from W&W Antiques.
