Early James Purdey double English Gun Case
Oak gun case with brass corner fittings and handles, 900mm long, 280mm wide, 140mm high.
Hinged Lid with brass carrying handle opens to reveal very early James Purdey 314 1/2 Oxford Street label to inside of the lid. The Green baize lined barrel tray lifts out to gain access to the lower section for butt storage also trimmed in green baize and cleaning implement storage with original oak cover.
James Purdey moved into 314 / 315 Oxford Street in 1826, renaming it 314 1/2 the following year. James the younger was born above the shop in 1828.
