Description
A hammered gold coin from the reign of king Edward III. Whilst clipped, Edward’s name is visible around the edge. This is from his fourth coinage and there is a pellet under the shield and what looks to be a closed E in the centre of the cross. Weight and dimensions as per photographs. It is of particular note is the last photograph showing that light can be seen through the coin - possibly a weakness or piercing of some description - doesn’t appear to affect the integrity of the coin which is relatively flat.
